2008: Appeared in two games during Major League Spring Training with the Mets and went 1-for-3....promoted to Class AAA New Orleans Zephyrs (Pacific Coast League) to begin season....returned to Class AA Binghamton 6/19....sent back up to New Orleans 7/20....Rated as the Best Defensive Catcher in the Mets organization by Baseball America.

2007: Appeared in one game during Major League Spring Training with the Mets....assigned to Class AA Binghamton....re-assigned to Class A St. Lucie Mets 6/22....returned to Binghamton 7/31....saw duty at 3B and in the outfield during final month of season....helped Great Britain to a second place finish in 2007 European Baseball Championships in Barcelona....returned to U.S. and played for Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League.

2006: Again saw time in Major League Spring Training with Texas....assigned to Class A Bakersfield Blaze (California League) to start campaign....placed on disabled list (pulled hamstring) 4/28....returned to action 5/8 only to re-injure the hamstring while running out a double in his second at-bat....promoted to Class AA Frisco 5/28....traded to New York Mets in exchange for outfielder Victor Diaz 8/30....assigned to Class AA Binghamton for conclusion of Eastern League season.

2005: Non-roster invitee to big league Spring Training....promoted to Class AA Frisco RoughRiders (Texas League) to begin season....struggled through 0-for-15 stretch, including nine strikeouts, to start campaign before hitting solo home run in home opener 4/12 vs. Corpus Christi....led off bottom of 10th inning with home run to beat Springfield 5/26....fractured the second metacarpal in his right hand during the second game of doubleheader 5/29....began rehab assignment with AZL Rangers 7/6....rejoined Frisco 7/14....also played for Grand Canyon Rafters of Arizona Fall League and posted a team-leading .425 average....named to the AFL post-season All-Star Team....named best defensive catcher in the Rangers' organization by Baseball America.

2004: Again named to watch list for the annual Johnny Bench Award....pre-season second-team All-America choice by Baseball America....suffered through 1-for-21 start to season and a 3-for-29 overall month of February....recovered to hit .305 over final 197 at-bats of campaign....delivered career-high four hits vs. Rutgers 3/5 and Wake Forest 3/21....belted grand slam vs. Miami 4/2....hit home runs in ACC Tournament, NCAA Atlanta Regional and NCAA Super Regional....signed professional contract after being selected in fifth round of June draft by Texas Rangers....assigned to Class A Spokane (Northwest League)....hit game-winning two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning in professional debut 6/22 vs. Salem-Keizer....named Northwest League Player of the Week for July 12-18 posting .409 average (12-for-22) with four runs scored, four doubles, two homers, seven RBI and an .864 slugging percentage during period....selected to play for Eastern Division in Northwest League All-Star Game 8/3 at Spokane....named as the Texas Rangers Organizational Player of the Month for July after hitting .323 with nine doubles, five homers, 23 RBI, 20 runs scored in 25 games....delivered three-run homer while driving in seven runs 8/25 vs. Salem-Keizer....named by Baseball America as the No. 19 prospect in the Northwest League....also named the first-team catcher on the publication's Short-season All-Star team.

2003: Named to watch list for the annual Johnny Bench Award....Took over starting catching role while also seeing some duty at first base and third base....Homered twice while driving in six runs during three-game sweep of Rutgers....hit safely in career-high 15 straight games from 3/7 to 3/30 in which he hit .400 with two doubles, four homers, 16 RBI and 12 runs scored....finished the season on an 11-game hitting streak in which he hit .344 with five doubles, six runs, eight RBI, and two walks....selected to USA Baseball National team for annual Red, White & Blue Tour and silver medal finish at the Pan American Games in the Dominican Republic.....only the second player in USA Baseball history to make all three national amateur teams (16-under youth, 18-under junior and the national team).

2002: Tech's No. 2 catcher who saw action in 33 games, making 26 starts behind the plate, at third base or as the DH....Delivered pinch-hit single in first collegiate at-bat 2/9 at Georgia Southern....hit first collegiate home run while going 3-for-5 with four runs scored 2/16 vs. Tennessee Tech....contributed three RBI in victory over Duke 4/7....belted key eighth inning solo home run 4/27 vs. Virginia....played for Cape Cod League champion Wareham Gatemen during summer.

High School: A four-year letter-winner and two-year captain for coach Chuck Berrington at Westlake High School....Led Westlake to the Marmonte league championship in 2000 and 2001....Also four-year member of the Honor Roll....helped the USA Baseball Junior National team to a Silver Medal in the COPABE Pan American Junior Championship in Camaguey, Cuba....Among five U.S. players named to the 11-member 2001 Pan American All-Tournament team after hitting .578 (15-for-26) along with 16 RBI and 13 runs scored during nine games of round-robin play....efforts included a two-homer, five-RBI outing against Brazil 7/3/2001....finished the tournament with a .531 average.

Personal: Michael James Nickeas....Born Feb. 13, 1983 in Vancouver, British Columbia....Son of Mark and Sherrie Nickeas....His father, Mark, played soccer for Liverpool, Plymouth Argyle, and Chester in the English Football League in the late 1970s before moving to North America to join the Vancouver Whitecaps (1981-84) of the NASL and the Dallas Sidekicks (1984-85) of the MISL....Majoring in Management.
