Talented and athletic shortstop who worked hard to become one of the best in the nation at his position while eventually leading Tech to berth in 2002 College World Series.

Pro Career: Signed professional contract 6/25/02 and joined Class A Batavia Muckdogs (NY-Penn League)....began pro career seeing duty primarily at third base before beginning transition to full-time duty as a pitcher....recorded first professional save with two innings of scoreless relief at Auburn 7/25/02....earned first professional win in relief 8/7 vs. Aberdeen....Assigned to Class A Lakewood (N.J.) of South Atlantic League for 2003....reassigned to Batavia 7/19/03....rejoined Class A Lakewood for 2004 season....retired from professional baseball 7/22/04 to join Tech staff as volunteer assistant coach for 2005 season while completing undergraduate degree....accepted a position as Coordinator of Baseball Operations with Career Sports & Entertainment following 2005 season.

2002: Second-team pre-season All-America pick by Collegiate Baseball....went 7-for-14 with five RBI in three games against Tennessee Tech 2/15-17....also struck out two of four batters faced in an inning of scoreless relief in collegiate pitching debut 2/17....went 4-for-4 and scored three runs, then moved to mound in the top of the ninth to pitch the Jackets out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam with a strikeout and a game-ending double play ball for first collegiate save 3/19 vs. Eastern Kentucky....pitched scoreless ninth innings in both games of Gardner-Webb series....climaxed school-record 30-game hitting streak with three hit, three RBI effort 4/9 at Auburn....earned nod as Most Valuable Player of NCAA Atlanta Regional....named shortstop on 2002 All-College World Series team after going 9-for-17 in three games at Omaha....selected in 15th round of June draft by Philadelphia Phillies.

2001: Led team in hits and doubles while ranking second in average....hit safely in first 14 games of season, including 4-for-6 with four runs scored at Georgia Southern 2/17 and 5-for-5 with three RBI in second game of doubleheader 2/27 vs. Oakland University....overall, hit safely in 26 of first 27 games....shifted to third base in absence of Mark Teixeira....went 9-for-12 in weekend series with Maryland 3/23-25, including season-high five RBI in 3/23 contest....hit .451 during Tech's 41 victories....once again played for Northern Ohio Baseball of Great Lakes League during summer....co-winner of the Tony Lucadello Award as the top prospect in the Great Lakes League.

2000: Raised batting average 136 points from freshman year....posted hitting streaks of 11 and 15 games during season with latter stretch coinciding with Tech's 15-game winning streak 3/28 to 4/19....hit .400 (32-for-80) during April....went 9-for-16 during NCAA Atlanta Regional highlighted by four-hit, four RBI effort in championship game vs. Stetson....hit .338 during summer for Northern Ohio of Great Lakes League.

1999: Struggled at the plate all season, but improved in the final two months....Reached high-water mark of .209 on May 9 before finishing with .195 average....Made contact most of the time, drew 24 walks and fanned only 25 times in 149 at-bats....Showed ability to make big plays on defense, but struggled in the field at times (24 errors)....Provided the game-winning hit with a sixth-inning RBI double in Tech's 3-2 win over Florida State on Apr. 30....Went 2-for-4, while scoring three times against Charleston Southern on Mar. 2....Hit his only HR on Mar. 6 vs. Rutgers....Batted .364 (4-for-11) in the series against Florida State, and hit .259 against ACC foes during the regular season....ACC Tournament: 1-for-7, one walk....Played briefly with Orleans of the Cape Cod League during summer before joining Northern Ohio of the Great Lakes league....Spent portion of summer training with former Tech strength coach Mark Verstegen in Florida, where his idol, former Tech shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, spends his winters.

High School: Rated No. 17 in Baseball America's top 50 prep prospects....Earned second-team all-America honors by USA Today and Baseball America in 1998....Played for Team Georgia in 1997 and 1998, and selected to all-tournament team in 1998....Selected as Athlete of the Year in the city of Gainesville in 1998....Named by USA Today as one of the top 25 high school players in America....Selected to Louisville Slugger TPX High School all-America team by Collegiate Baseball in 1998....Led Gainesville High School to three 2-A state championships in a row in 1995, 1997 and 1998....Lettered and started at shortstop all four years for Coach Wayne Vickery at Gainesville High School....Participated in North-South all-star game in 1998....Struck out only three times in 138 plate appearances in 1998....Hit .550 with eight home runs and 43 RBI in 1998....Selected Class AA Player of the Year in the state of Georgia....Selected in the sixth round by the Atlanta Braves in the 1998 draft.
