I interpret Kel’s summer ball as an indication he’s unlikely to respond to a draft offer.

    • Although I expect him to be back next season, I wouldn’t say the Summer Ball assignment makes it a given. I would think he’ll be going up there with something to prove after a rough season last year.

  • Couple questions for you:
So few kids in the cape…what’s up with that?
Also you say kel didn’t have a great year, do you mean this year? I thought he was okay. Also any incoming freshman you’re excited about?

    • Kel hit .151 at the Cape last summer.

      • Thanks, I found this list which I was looking for and asked about in another post.

When you talk about Kel, he wasn’t the only one who didn’t hit well in the summer. More at https://gtswarm.com/threads/baseball-pre-season-practice.9052/page-2#post-207976

Life is short and these guys need some down time to recharge. I don’t like how much some of the pitchers pitch. In my sport (cycling and triathlon) you really need to take a couple months off to let the body heal.

        • TomM, I get the impression that your point is widespread, as is the related one that says young athletes specialize to much at an early age. TJ surgery in HS pitchers is a worrying trend.

That said, if the kids truly enjoy their summer ball, especially some of the more scenic venues like the Cape, nobody should say “No!”

          • I agree that the kids should play summer ball and enjoy themselves. Just back off a good bit and enjoy a few months.

Separate topic, any info on why Dulaney is no longer with the St Cloud Rox? Did he ever go up there?
